Deanna was born and raised in rural Alberta and taught school for many years after obtaining her BEd Degree. She has always enjoyed many hobbies, and has been passionate about both painting and quilting. She began painting in oils, and many years later switched to watercolors. Still later on, she added encaustic paintings to her endeavors as well.
Deanna completed some formal art education and took workshops offered by various artists. She was an active member of the Art Society of Strathcona County in Alberta, and had many pieces selected for the juried shows.
She has sold paintings in galleries in Alberta, and also through hospital, restaurant, and festival venues. She had several of her paintings purchased for the Alberta Rural Municipalities Conferences over the years. Two of her encaustic paintings were featured on City TV by the Paint Spot Art Store. Also, Deanna was the featured artist in the March/April 2009 issue of The Country Register, Alberta Guide.
A move from Alberta to Vancouver Island in 2010 resulted in Deanna having a beautiful studio/gallery, River's Edge Gallery, in which to both create and display her work. Some of Deanna's painting are on display in Chameleons Restaurant in Parksville,BC.
